Written in the field, one book at a time.
Apex Books exists because apex predators fascinate me — not just as animals, but as forces that hold entire ecosystems together. A single wolf pack reshapes a forest. A shark's presence changes how every fish beneath it behaves. Remove an apex predator, and the effects ripple all the way down the food chain — fewer predators means an explosion of prey, which strips vegetation, which changes rivers, which changes everything else living there. That kind of quiet, outsized power is what I write about. My books cover apex predators across every kind of food chain — lions and wolves on land, orcas and great white sharks in the ocean, harpy eagles and golden eagles in the sky, crocodiles in freshwater systems. Each book looks at how that particular predator hunts, how it lives, and — most importantly — what happens to its ecosystem when it's thriving versus when it's disappearing. Going forward, I'll also be publishing a blog alongside the catalogue, covering the latest discoveries in wildlife and nature research as they happen — so this becomes a place to keep learning, not just a shelf of finished books.
